In the beautiful and distant era of the Renaissance, the Italian writer Giovanni Boccaccio gave the world an exciting collection of short stories, “The Decameron, or Prince Galiotte.”
In the last third of the 19th century, the Austrian composer Franz Suppe composed an operetta called “Boccaccio, or the Prince of Palermo.”
And in the first quarter of the 21st century in Russia, playwright Konstantin Rubinsky and director Philip Razenkov are reinventing a story where Boccaccio the author is forced to play Boccaccio the character, a frivolous hero based on his own book.

The plot is richly decorated with love passions, filled with comedy, sparkles, seethes and intoxicates with musical beauties. Maestro Zuppe inspiredly creates an “exemplary operetta” literally before our eyes, not suspecting that Boccaccio’s character could rebel and then the ending would be unpredictable...
