Lev KlychkovViolin soloistAlexander Sladkovsky graduated from the Moscow Conservatory and later from the St. Petersburg Conservatory. He made his conducting debut with the Opera and Ballet Theatre of the St. Petersburg Conservatory in a performance of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte in 1997. In 1999, Alexander Sladkovsky won the III International Prokofiev Competition. Between 1997 and 2003 Alexander Sladkovsky was conductor and then Principal Conductor of the St. Petersburg State Capella, and between 2001 and 2003 served as Principal Conductor of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Alexander Sladkovsky was Assistant Conductor to Mariss Jansons in staging of G. Bizet’s Carmen in 2005, and to Mstislav Rostropovich in The Unknown Mussorgsky programme in 2006 (both productions with the Saint Petersburg Conservatory). Between 2004 and 2006 Sladkovsky was Principal Conductor of the St. Petersburg Capella. From 2006 to 2010 Maestro Sladkovsky conducted the Novaya Rossiya State Symphony Orchestra under Yuri Bashmet. Presently, Alexander Sladkovsky is Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra (Kazan, Russia). Orchestras under Alexander Sladkovsky took part in several important national and international projects and festivals such as the Musical Olympus and Musical Spring festivals in St. Petersburg, the International Yuri Temirkanov Winter Arts Square Festival, the All-Russia Bogacheva Competition for opera singers, Alexander Tchaikovsky Foundation’s Youth Academies of Russia programme, Rodion Shchedrin—A Self-Portrait, the Young Euro Classics Festival in Berlin, the Days of St. Petersburg Culture in Almaty with the stars of the Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Honorary Citizens of St. Petersburg Festival, the XII and XIII Easter Festival, the Crescendo Festival in St. Petersburg, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Kunstfest-Weimar, the Budapest Spring Festival-2006, the V Festival of the World's Symphony Orchestras, and the XI Worthersee Classics Festival (Klagenfurt, Austria). Alexander Sladkovsky's concert programmes cover a spectrum of such contemporary composers as R. Shchedrin, G. Kancheli, S. Gubaidulina, A. Rybnikov, S. Slonimsky, B. Tishchenko, Y. Krasavin, M. Ledenev, and some young composers of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Yekaterinburg. On various occasions Sladkovsky performed music by Alexander Tchaikovsky. Thus, in March 2003 he conducted the world premiere of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 3 at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. Alexander Sladkovsky made appearances with such internationally renowned artists as Denis Matsuev, Yuri Bashmet, Boris Berezovsky, Barry Douglas, Ekaterina Mechetina, Ksenia Bashmet, Viktor Tretyakov, Vadim Repin, Alyona Baeva, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, David Geringas, Alexander Knyazev, Alexander Rudin, Antonio Meneses, Montserrat Caballe, Olga Borodina, Ildar Abdrazakov, Hibla Gerzmava, Lyubov Kazarnovskaya, Albina Shagimuratova, Dmitry Hvorostovsky, Roberto Alagna, Nikolay Lugansky. Alexander Sladkovsky guest-conducted the Symphony Orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia (Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra), the Russian National Orchestra, the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic of Russia, the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (Italy), the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lower Saxony Symphony Orchestra, the orchestras of the Moscow, Novosibirsk and Belgrade Philharmonics, the Symphony Orchestra of the Budapest National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Sinfonia Varsovia. Maestro Sladkovsky was Principal Conductor of the Russian National Students' Symphony Orchestra (a joint project of the Ministry of Education of Russia and the St. Petersburg Conservatory), which was composed of conservatory students from St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Kazan and Saratov from 2001 until 2005. In May 2001, Alexander Sladkovsky conducted a concert at the Hermitage Theatre in honour of Her Royal Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. He also conducted concerts in honour of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev, the Presidents of the United States Bill Clinton and George Bush. By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation he was awarded a medal in honour of St. Petersburg’s 300th Anniversary. In 2003, he was a nominee for the Russia’s Golden Soffit Award as Best Conductor of the Year, and in 2005, he became Honoured Artist of Russia by the President’s decree. He is Ambassador of the Kazan Universiade 2013. In 2011, Alexander Sladkovsky was named Conductor of the year in Russia by Musical Review magazine and won of the Philanthropist of the Year contest. Alexander Sladkovsky is member of the Council of State Cultural Policy under the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. He also received the Oleg Yankovsky Creative Discovery 2011-2012 Award. Alexander Sladkovsky is a founder and Artistic director of four international festivals in Kazan - Rakhlin Seasons, White Lilac, Kazan Autumn and Concordia. In 2012, Alexander Sladkovsky and the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra released the Anthology of Music by Composers of the Republic of Tatarstan by SONY MUSIC and RED SEAL labels.
