| Yevgeny AkimovTenorBorn in 1967 in Leningrad. Graduated from the vocal faculty of the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (L. Morozov's class). Soloist with the Zazerkalye Children's Music Theatre from 1991, where he performed the roles of Finist (The Tale of Finist the Falcon), Nemorino (L'elisir d'amore) and Tamino (Die Zauberfloete). Maryinsky Theatre soloist since 1996.

Has performed at the world's leading theatres, among them the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Covent Garden and Paris National Opera. Has taken part in joint productions of the Maryinsky Theatre and San Francisco Opera (Prokofiev's Betrothal in a Monastery), La Scala (Musorgsky's Boris Godunov), Teatro Lirico di Cagliari (Prokofiev's Semyon Kotko) in addition to various projects with the world's leading singers, such as Giuseppe Giacomini (Otello), Placido Domingo (Parsifal) and Ferruccio Furlanetto (Boris Godunov). In 2001, he took part in a concert performance of Stravinsky’s Mavra in Los Angeles (conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen). In 2002 at Rome's Accademia Santa Cecilia he performed the role of Zinovy Borisovich in Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk under the baton of Mstislav Rostropovich. In 2003 he appeared at the opening of the season at Carnegie Hall, performing the cycle From Jewish Folk Poetry by Shostakovich (conductor Valery Gergiev). The same year he took part in the premiere of Rodion Shchedrin's The Enchanted Traveller, conducted by Lorin Maazel (Avery Fisher Hall, New York). In 2002-2003, he toured with the Rostov's State Musical Theatre to the UK, performing roles of Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) and Count Almaviva (Il Barbiere di Siviglia). In 2005, he sang Don Ottavio at Teatro Regio, Turin (Don Giovanni, conductor Gianandrea Noseda, director Michele Placido) and took part in the Stresa International Music Festival (Italy). In 2006, he performed Lensky at the State Theatre in Karlsruhe. In 2007, he took part in a concert performance of Katerina Izmaylova at Theatre du Chatelet (Orchestre National de France, conductor Tugan Sokhiev), of Iolanta in Toulouse (Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, conductor Tugan Sokhiev) and of Boris Godunov at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (Los Angeles Philharmonic, conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen). In 2009, he sang Mikola (Semyon Kotko) in Cagliari (Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and Maryinsky Theatre co-production).
Regularly works with the National Opera of Moldova and takes part in the Maria Bieshu Invita festival. Frequently performs concerts at St Petersburg's most prestigious chamber music venues.
