| Alexei TikhomirovBassBorn in Kazan. In 1998 he completed his studies at the Kazan I. Aukhadeyev Music College Choral conducting Department (V. Zakharova class). In 2003 he graduated from the Kazan N. Zhiganov State Conservatoire Academic Chorus conducting Department (L. Draznin class), and in 2006 – from the Conservatoire’s vocal faculty (Yu. Borisenko’s class). In 2001 he won a Fyodor Chaliapin Foundation, Kazan, scholarship. In 2003, while still a student, he made his debut at the S. Saydashev Conservatoire Concert Hall in the title role of Donizetti’s opera Don Pasquale (conductor Fuat Mansurov). From 2004-06, he perfected his skills at the Galina Vishnevskaya Centre for Opera Singing (A. Belousov class), where he performed the following roles at the students’ theatre: Mephistofeles (Faust), King Rene (Iolanta), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Sobakin, Malyuta Skuratov (The Tsar’s Bride), Sparafucile, Monterone (Rigoletto), Title Role (Ruslan and Lyudmila). Since 2005, he has been a soloist with Moscow’s Helikon-Opera Company. In 2006 he participated in a Toscanini Foundation production of Rigoletto (Sparafucile; Busseto, Italy). He sang Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) in Limasol and Nicosia (Cyprus, 2007), Sobakin (The Tsar’s Bride) in South Korea and China (2006), and also at the Teatro Vincenzo Bellini, in Catagnia (Italy, 2007). In 2009 he sang Agamemnon (Iphigenie en Aulide) at Rome Opera, took part in a performance of Cherubini’s Messa Mi major at the Vienna’s Musikverein Concert Hall, sang Osiride (Moise et Pharaon) at the Salzburg Festival (all with Riccardo Muti). In the same year he sang Il Commendatore (Don Giovanni) at the De Doelen Concert Hall (Rotterdam) and at the State Theatre, Zoetermeer (conductor Jan Willem de Vriend). He took part in a Gala Concert at the Big Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonia (conductor Mikhail Tatarnikov). At the Salle Garnier, Opera de Monte-Carlo, he appeared at a Russian Discoveries Concert (Teatro Carlo Felice Orchestra, conductor Dmitri Jurowski). He participated in a performance of Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Confessore at the Munich Herkulessaal (Bavarian Radio Orchestra, conductor Riccardo Muti). He works with the Tchaikovsky Big Symphony Orchestra, with the Academic Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments, the Moscow State Academic Chamber Choir under the direction of V. Minin, the Choir of the Moscow State Conservatoire, the A. Yurlov State Capella, the Choir of the Moscow State Tretyakov Gallery and others. In 2010, he made his Bolshoi Theatre debut in the part of Sarastro (Mozart’s Die Zauberfloete). Awards He won lst prize at the Galina Vishnevskaya International Competition of Opera Singers (Moscow, 2006). He was a winner of the lst Republican Competition and holds the title Best Young Bass of Tartarstan (Kazan, 2007). | |
