Viktoria Yastrebova

Soprano

• Honoured Artist of the Republic of Northern Osetia-Alania (2006)
• Prize-winner at the International Moniuszko Vocalists' Competition (Warsaw, 2004)
• Prize-winner at the VI International Rimsky-Korsakov Young Opera Singers' Competition (St Petersburg, 2004)

Born in Rostov on Don. Graduated from the music faculty of the Taganrog Pedagogical Institute and later, in 2000, from the Rostov State Rakhmaninov Conservatoire (Academy) (class of Professor Khudoverdova). Was a soloist with the Rostov Music Theatre, where she performed the roles of Violetta (La traviata) and Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly).
Soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers since 2002. With the Mariinsky Opera Company since 2008.

Frequently gives recitals. Has toured with the Mariinsky Opera Company to Finland (Helsinki), and in 2006 in Rotterdam she performed the soprano role in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony under Valery Gergiev.
Regularly performs with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers. Together with Larisa Gergieva, she has performed in Academy concerts in Geneva, London, Vienna and Paris.
On 3 September 2006, she took part in the charitable requiem concert Beslan... Two Years On in Vladikavkaz.
At the Vladikavkaz Theatre of Opera and Ballet she has appeared as Violetta (La traviata) and Tatiana (Eugene Onegin).

In 2009/10, she made her debut at Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Oksana in Cherevichki. On the concert platform, Victoria has recently performed Verdi’s Requiem under the baton of Valery Gergiev in Finland, London and Baden Baden and in Madrid under Adrian Leaper. She has also recorded Mahler 8 with Valery Gergiev.
Highlights of the 2010/11 season include Victoria's debut at La Scala Milan in Tosca and a performance of Rachmaninov's 'The Bells' with the BBC Symphony conducted by Semyon Bychkov at the Barbican.
