Yekaterina Popova

Soprano

Ekaterina Popova was born in Leningrad. She entered the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 1988, and continued her studies at the Paris Conservatoire (class of Professor Jeanne Berbié). She spent three years as a post-graduate student at the Studio Bastille of the Opéra Bastille, Paris. She has sung at Paris’ Opéra Comique and the Grand Opéra, the Opéra-Théâtre de Metz, the Opéra de Strasbourg and the Opéra National de Nancy; her roles there have included Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Amelia (Un ballo in maschera), Mimì (La bohème), Floria Tosca (Tosca), Madame Lidoine (Les Dialogues des Carmélites), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) and Elvira (Don Giovanni).
She made her debut at the Mariinsky Theatre in 2003 as Giorgetta (Il tabarro).

In 2007 at the Eilat Festival she appeared as Teresa in the opera Benvenuto Cellini (conducted by Valery Gergiev).
