The ballet "Nutcracker" will take place from 18 December 2015 to 7 January 2016 on the Main Stage.
Ballet for Christmas Eve! This choreographic version, created for the Bolshoi by Yuri Grigorovich, is full of romanticism and philosophical reflections on ideal love. Masterfully interpreted by the Bolshoi dancers, it will enchant the whole family for the festive season, proving that one is never too young or too old to be swept away by The Nutcracker.
The first and, to-date the only, baroque opera produced at the Bolshoi (1979) was George Frideric Handel’s Giulio Cesare, and now, making amends for the ‘baroque’ hiatus in its repertoire, the Bolshoi turns again to Handel’s music – for just the second time in its history. The choice of Rodelinda is symbolical: for in the 20th century it was this opera that marked Handel’s return to popularity in theatre.
