The Bolshoi 240th season came to an end - let's sum it up!Today, on July 25, The Bolshoi 240th season came to an end. Let's recall what has happened at the theatre during these 10 months? 3 new names in the theatre's ballet repertoire: renewed and transferred to the Historical stage "Don Quixote"; mysterious "Ondine" by Vyacheslav Samodurov. 7 opera premieres: "The Fables of the Vixen, the Duckling and Balda" by Dmitry Belyanushkin that are winning children's hearts over every weekend; "Rodelinda" from Christopher Moulds and Richard Jones made in co-production with English National Opera; Powerful and passionate "Katerina Izmailova" from Tugan Sokhiev and Rimas Tuminas; modern and ironic "Don Pasquale" crom Michal Klausa and Timofey Kulyabin; major and fascinating "La Damnation de Faust" from Tugan Sokhiev and Peter Stein. 4 ballets live broadcasted in cinemas all over the world: "Giselle", "Lady with the Camellias", "Don Quixote" and "The Taming of the Shrew". Leonid Desyatnikov Music Festival; Galas dedicated to the memory of Elena Obraztsova, Maya Plisetskaya, Raisa Struchkova; Svetlana Zakharova's, Gennady Rozhdestvensky's, Boris Akimov's gala concerts. 4 Golden Mask Awards: "A Hero of Our Time" - Best Ballet Performance; Alexander Vinogradov - Musical Theatre Jury Special Award for the main part in "Le Nozze di Figaro" opera. 2 Benois de la Danse Awards: World Ballet Day: 3 hours of The Bolshoi Ballet life in online broadcast over YouTube. Creation of The Bolshoi Official Video Channel. Live streaming performances on the Historical building front: The Tsar's Bride" opera and "Jewels" ballet.
