Kazinik says about Durseneva's voice: "Her singing is a high-voltage current. This is a monologue of the soul". The singer is a laureate of such international competitions as the International Glinka Singing Competition in Moscow (1993) and the International Moniuzsko Singing Competition in Warsaw (1994); she also became the first prize winner at the international Chamber Singing Competition The Amber Nightingale in Kaliningrad (1994). She has been singing at the Bolshoi Theatre for two decades. Durseneva presents her guest performances at the most prestigious European theatres: La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House in London, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Royal Danish Opera, at the Glyndebourne Festival and the Bregenz Festival, at Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Konzerthaus in Vienna and Palau de les Arts Reina SofГa in Valencia. Alexandra Durseneva takes part in productions and concerts, conducted by outstanding maestros: Mark Ermler, Yuri Temirkanov, Mikhail Jurowski , and M. Pletnev. Her discography includes opera recordings, made together with V. Jurowski, V. Fedoseyev and G. Rozhdestvensky. Alexandra Durseneva's vast repertoire includes parts from Russian, French and Italian operas, as well as pieces by R. Schuman, J. Brahms, G. Mahler, A. Dvorak, L. JanáДЌek and R. Vagner. The singer pays particular attention to the Russian chamber music vocal lyrics. This CD is devoted to the genre of the Russian romance of the 19th-20th centuries. It has selected masterpieces by A. Rubinstein, M. Mussorgsky, A. Borodin, N. Rimsky-Korsakov, P. Tchaikovsky, S. Rachmaninoff and N. Medtner, whose pieces are rarely performed nowadays. Alexandra Durseneva recorded these pieces in 1994 and 2014 together with the pianists Vladimir Slobodyan and Lyubov Orfenova.
