The soloists of the Bolshoi theatre became guest stars in the performance of Yury Grigorovich's Ballet troupe in an ancient amphitheatre under the open sky in Athens. Maria Vinogradova (Phrygia), Yekaterina Shipulina (Aegina), Denis Rod'kin (Spartacus) and Alexander Volchkov (Crassus) took part in the "Spartacus"; Anna Nikulina (Giselle) and Ruslan Skvorcov (Albrecht) - in the "Giselle".
Yury Grigorovich shares his impression of this tour: "The first time the Bolshoi brought its stagings to Irodium in 1977 - "Spartacus", "Giselle" and "Swan lake". And now, after almost 40 years the Greek can see the "Spartacus" perfomed by Krasnodar Ballet theatre with a new generation of soloists of the Bolshoi. We are not trying to compare, we are trying to continue great traditions. The soloists of the Bolshoi with the conductor Pavel Sorokin had a huge - enormous! - success in this legendary place. And it means that the tradition is safe and the great level of the Bolshoi Ballet is unbeatable. And what else can we ask for?".
After three performances in Irodium the company of Yury Grigorovich's Ballet theatre continued the tour over Grece. And the soloists of the Bolshoi returned to Moscow for the gathering of theatre's company before the start of new season.
