Vladimir Matorin was awarded the order "Unity. Deeds for the greater good of peoples"
On July 27th the concert, marking the 1026th anniversary of the Christianization of Russia and the Day of Saint Vladimir, took place in Moscow at The Church of God Wisdom (Sophia) in Srednie Sadovniki. The concert was organized by the Foundation for Support of culture and traditions of small towns of Russia and Vladimir Volgin, the Church's beneficiary and Protoiereus.
The representatives of the UN and the European Commission on Awards and Prizes awarded Vladimir Matorin the order "Unity. Deeds for the greater good of peoples" to mark the 60th anniversary of the United Nations.
Vladimir Matorin, the chairman of the Foundation, a People's Artist of Russia and the Bolshoi Theatre soloist together with the Choir Of The Patriarchal Cathedral Church Of Christ The Savior sang Russian Orthodox Church hymns. In the second part of the concert he performed Russian folk songs and romances together with the ensemble of soloists "Russian Rhapsody". Yuri Rozum, a People's Artist of Russia and the President of the International Foundation, took part in the concert as well. The bandshell, which was put up in the church yard, seated more than 900 people.
