The Bolshoi Ballet season in SingaporeThe Bolshoi Theatre Season started in Singapore; the company performs onstage at the cultural center "Esplanade". In the 21st century the Bolshoi Theatre visited China; the company also toured Japan and Hong Kong several times. However, the company has not visited Singapore for more than 20 years. The Bolshoi Theatre toured this country twice, in 1990 and 1992. This time the company brought only one guest performance, the ballet by P. Tchaikovsky "Swan Lake". The ballet was premiered in 1877 onstage at the Bolshoi Theatre, in Moscow. Today the version of "Swan Lake", created by Yuri Grigorovich, who combined his own choreography with the choreography of Lev Ivanov and Marius Petipa, is on at the Bolshoi. There probably is not a single continent in the world where the Bolshoi Theatre has not shown its "Swan Lake" at least once. The tickets for all performances of this tour were sold out as soon as they appeared in the box offices. More than 100 people went on this tour. The Bolshoi Theatre brought three casts to Singapore. David Hallberg and Ekaterina Krysanova dances in the opening night performance on November, 20th. Later on the parts of Prince Siegfried and Odette-Odile will be performed by Ruslan Skvortsov and Ekaterina Shipulina, Semyon Chudin and Olga Smirnova. The production also stars Artemiy Belyakov and Yuri Baranov as The Evil Genius. Anna Tikhomirova performs the part of the Spanish Bride in all performances. The music by Tchaikovsky will be played by the Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra, conducted by Pavel Klinichev. The posters for this tour said: "Do not miss the opportunity to see the world famous Russian ballet company that this year will perform in Asia only once".
