Boris Kaminsky

Designer

Born in Ryabinsk. In 1980, he finished his studies at the Leningrad V.A. Serov Institute of Art. In the same year, he entered the production faculty of the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema (M. Smirnov's class).
On graduating from the Institute, he joined the Bryansk A.K. Tolstoy Drama Theatre (designing Constant Wife after Somerset Maugham; and Shteyn's Ocean).
From 1987-90, he was principal designer for the Tyumen Drama Theatre where he did the sets for the following, among other, productions: Erdman's The Suicide, Moliere's Don Juan, Crane Feathers (Japanese tale), Galin's Stars on the Morning Sky.
Then he worked for different St. Petersburg theatres: designing Ostrovsky's Talents and Admirers (Lensoviet Theatre), A Christmas Story with a Ghost after Dickens (Theatre on the Liteynoy) and other productions.
At the Maryinsky Theatre, he took part in the reconstruction of The Sleeping Beauty and La Bayadere.
He worked on the following operas: Semyon Kotko, Otello, The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh.
He revived Pyotr Vilyams' sets for Eugene Onegin for the Bolshoi Theatre's production.
He has worked as designer in Czechia (Le Corsaire, Coppelia - the latter production was cancelled), and in Bosnia (Swan Lake).
