The date has been chosen in honour of the French ballet master and reformer Jean-Georges Noverre, who was born on this day and is considered as the "father of ballet". The main purpose of Dance Day events is to attract the attention of the wider public to the most unifying kind of art that can overcome any cultural or ethnic barrier, letting people speak in one language - the language of dance. Tonight Spring Romantic Ballet Gala will be held at Ekaterinburgsky Ballet and Opera Theatre. The Bolshoi most titled premiere Dmitry Gudanov and leading soloist Anastasia Goryacheva will perform divertissement from "La Sylphide" ballet.
