The Bolshoi Theatre will take part in the international festival "Night of Museums"!
The Bolshoi Museum will spend this night at the Tretyakov Gallery on the Krymsky Val. The visitors will receive an additional bonus from the Bolshoi Theatre - it will be an interesting story of life and creative work of a wonderful designer Fyodor Fedorovskiy, who was the Bolshoi Theatre chief designer for a long time (a large exhibition of his works is now open at the Tretyakov Gallery on the Krymsky Val) and an entertaining demonstration - they will show how sets and props are made. All those interested will be able to participate in this process. Before this game at the theatre workshops, the visitors will be able to listen to participants of the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Opera Program perform; this will surely create the right atmosphere for interactive communication.
The international festival "Night of Museums" is very popular nowadays; it marks the International Museum Day, which is celebrated on May 18th. The "Night of Museums" is organized on a preceding Saturday: entrance to museums is free this day. Naturally, at first this campaign was very much theatricalized and demonstrated the synergy of various art genres and kinds of art.
The Bolshoi Theatre takes part in this event for the first time. The decision to do so was inspired by the grand personal exhibition of Fyodor Fedorovskiy, organized by the joined effort of the Bolshoi Theatre Museum, A.A.Bakhrushin State Central Museum and the State Tretyakov Gallery. Fedorovskiy was not only an outstanding theatre designer; he also established and was in charge of theatre workshops that the Bolshoi Theatre is so proud of today.

There will be four spots at the Tretyakov Gallery on the Krymsky Val, where the Bolshoi Theatre Museum will open mini-workshops; each of those workshops will specialize in different things. In the first one you, dear guests, will be able to participate in making a set, based on a sketch. In the second one visitors will be shown how theatre miniatures are created. In the third one visitors will have a chance to make some props. The fourth one, naturally, will pay tribute to theatre costumes. All demonstrations and talks will be connected with Fedorovskiy's works one way or another. For example, participants of the props workshop will re-created "household items", which were once made for the production of the opera "Sadko". The program of the concert, starring the Bolshoi Theatre young singers and orchestra, includes fragments of operas that were pivotal to Fedorovskiy's career.
