Sergei Balashov

Tenor

Graduated from the Russian Academy of Theatre Art (GITIS, the department of opera and musical theatre) in 1999. Teachers – professor R. Nemchinskaya (acting) and Y. Udalov (vocal). Took the vocal, language and acting courses at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center (graduated in 2004).

Since December 1998 he has been a soloist of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow academic Music Theater (Stanislavsky Opera). Performed with the "Helikon Opera" theater in Moscow.

His parts in the productions of the Stanislavsky Opera include: Nemorino ("L’ elisir d’amore" by G. Donizetti), Almaviva ("Il Barbiere di Siviglia"), Alfredo ("La Traviata" by G. Verdi), Werther ("Werther" J. Massenet), Jaquino ("Fidelio" by L. van Beethoven), Ferrando ("Cosi fan tutte" by W.A. Mozart), Arturo ("Lucia di Lammermoor" by G.Donizetti), Dr. Falke ("Die Fledermaus" by J. Strauss), Lensky ("Evgeny Onegin" by P. Tchaikovsky), Levko and the Distiller ("May Night" by N. Rimsky-Korsakov), Sinodal ("The Demon" by A. Rubinstein), The Astrologer ("The Golden Cockerel" by N. Rimsky-Korsakov), Bayan ("Ruslan and Ludmila" by M. Glinka), Antonio ("Betrothal in a Monastery" by S. Prokofiev), Hoffmann ("Les Contess d’ Hoffmann"by J. Offenbach), Flute ("A Midsummer Night’s Dream" by B. Britten), Anatole Kuragin ("War and Peace" by S. Prokofiev). Participated in the world premiere of "Hamlet (Prince of Denmark) (Russian) comedy" by V. Kobekin (2008). 

Parts performed in the productions of the other companies include: Cassio ("Otello" by Verdi), Alfred ("Die Fledermaus" by J. Strauss), Lykov ("The Tsar’s Bride" by Rimsky-Korsakov), Gritsko ("Sorochinsky Fair" by Musorgsky), Vassily ("Mavra" by Stravinsky).

Also masters the parts: Vladimir Igorevich ("Prince Igor" by A. Borodin), Il Duco ("Rigoletto" by Verdi).

Took part in the international tours of the Stanislavsky Opera (The Riga Opera Festival in Latvia, USA,  South Korea,  Italy, Estonia).

Participated in the Ravenna Festival (Italy, 2003) and in the Diaghilev Festival in Groningen (The Netherlands, 2005) with the "Helikon Opera" Theater.

Toured Russia and Yugoslavia.
